Sod Replacement & Reseeding
Lawn failed before? We diagnose why, fix the drainage or soil issue, and install the right sod the second time. No third time
Learn moreCompaction, drainage failure, and pH imbalances cause sod to fail before it roots. We correct the soil first so new turf has a surface that supports establishment
Most sod failures in New Orleans are not sod failures. They are soil failures. Clay-heavy soil that compacts hard, drainage patterns that leave roots sitting in standing water, and pH levels that prevent nutrient uptake are the actual causes behind most lawn replacements that fail the second time
Soil correction is the step that most installation contractors skip because it adds time and cost. We include it when the assessment shows the soil conditions cannot support new sod. That means testing pH where the surface conditions suggest imbalance, breaking up compaction before laying, and correcting drainage patterns that will undermine the new lawn within one season
In some cases, soil correction is a standalone service before reseeding or a deferred installation. In others, it is part of a same-day replacement job. The scope depends on what the assessment finds, and we tell you exactly what needs to happen before committing to anything

Core aeration and soil amendment to break up clay compaction before new sod goes down. NOLA clay compacts harder than most regions and requires correction more often.
Surface regrading or channel work to move standing water away from the installation area. Sod installed over a drainage problem will fail at the same rate as what was removed.
Soil pH assessed and corrected where needed. Most NOLA grass varieties perform best in a slightly acidic range. pH outside that range limits nutrient uptake regardless of fertilization.
Addition of organic material or a targeted blend to correct the specific deficiency found. Topdressing applied before installation to give new roots a better establishment surface.

Our crew handles everything: removing old turf, grading the soil, laying the sod correctly the first time. Most residential installs are done in a single day.
We walk you through care instructions, answer your questions, and leave the yard clean. Then we get out of your way and let the grass do its thing.
Recurring failure in the same area despite normal watering, water pooling after rain that does not absorb within an hour, poor response to fertilization, and sod that dies within one season after a correct installation are all indicators. We assess in person and test pH where surface conditions suggest a problem.
St. Augustine and Bermuda prefer a slightly acidic pH between 6.0 and 7.0. Centipede does best in more acidic conditions, around 5.0 to 6.0. Zoysia is similar to St. Augustine. NOLA soils are variable, and pH correction before installation improves root establishment across all varieties.
Often yes. Surface regrading to redirect water flow, French drain installation at the edge of the affected area, or simple grade corrections at collection points can address most residential drainage problems. We identify the simplest effective fix at the assessment.
Compaction relief uses core aeration and organic material to open the clay structure for water and root penetration. Full soil amendment addresses nutrient deficiencies or pH imbalances through targeted product addition. Many NOLA lawns need both, and we confirm at the assessment which applies to your yard.
Sometimes by one day, sometimes not at all. Surface drainage corrections and aeration can often be completed the same day as installation. Significant regrading or drainage work may require an additional day before sod goes down. We confirm the timeline at the assessment.
Yes. If the existing lawn is viable and soil correction is what it needs to recover, we can assess and correct without pulling the turf. We confirm at the assessment whether the existing grass can respond to correction or whether replacement is the right call.
